Grand Bassin or Ganga Talao is a sacred lake, which is about 1800 feet above sea level and is situated 2 km to the east of Le Pétrin. More than 400.000 believers make the pilgrimage to Ganga Talao to make sacrifices to their gods. The crater lake is one of the most important hindu pilgrimage sites outside of India.
I’ve been there in 2015 during a press trip with Beachcomber to visit the Royal Palm Mauritius Resort. The lake offers mystical vibes: you just can’t leave that place immediately. Something keeps you feel part of it.
Those flowers and this incense were photographed there, in that moment, that day, in my 40ies.
